Kick-off Meeting, Prague

In January 2023 the participants got together for the first time for a two-day meeting at the Archive of Fine Arts in Prague.


On the first day the main focus was on administrative matters and project planning including finances and dissemination strategy. After the conclusion of the organisational work, the Archive of Fine Arts had arranged a guided tour for the visitors of the exhibition Eva Koťátková at National Gallery by arthistorian Eva Novotná.


The second day was dedicated to the development of research strategy. The partners finalized their requirements for database queries and chose examples for specific case studies (events, persons, institutions etc.) which will be further researched in study workshops during the year.
In the archive, materials were retrieved, magazines, catalogs and other documentation material on specific exhibitions were viewed and discussed.
For the afternoon was planned to visit the second location of the Archive of Fine Arts at DOX Centre for Contemporary Art and in the evening the participants attended the opening of the memorial exhibition of Jiří Hůla (founder of the Archive of Fine Arts).

    Study Workshop at basis wien, 3-4 April 2023   Early in April 2023 the partners met for their first workshop in Vienna. After a long preparatory phase, all participants were eager to get together for this two-day event at basis wien. The project Art Archives Study (ARTAS) aims to examine the changes brought on by the enlargement of the EU in 2004, with a special focus on Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovenia, where the three participating archives are based and which are the subject of their respective archives of documentation. The approach taken in this project is a two-fold one combining statistical data analysis with classical research methods.   Study Workshop at Moderna galerija, Ljubljana, 21-22 August 2023      On 21 and 22 August 2023, participants from the partner institutions of the  ARTAS – Art Archives Study.
